Where does the time go? It’s late July and soccer is in FULL swing!  Our “craziest” program starts tonight! Rec soccer for all U6 and U8 players starts tonight for the next 6 weeks. We have over 225 kids ages 5- 10 playing in these programs. Concurrently, we are running U10 soccer for close to 150 kids. That’s 41 teams of summer fun each sponsored by a local business! Hooray!   Please thank them!  Thanks also, to all of you that said YES when we asked you to coach a team. We have 36 jr high and high school players that volunteered to coach your children. They are doing it for the love of soccer; please thank them when you see them!   We will end the U10 season with a tourney for all U10 teams, complete with a watermelon feed sponsored by Fairmont Medical Center for all U10 players and families on Sept. 1^st.

 

Most of our competitive teams finished their seasons at the league playoffs last weekend. I think all the players had a good time and definitely improved their soccer skills. Our U15 boy’s team is still participating in the MYSA State Tournament this week. Congratulations to those boys!

 

FHS soccer registration for grades 7-12 will be held next week, Aug 3^rd and 4^th at the Southern Plains Education Cooperative building on Third and Park streets from 4-8 pm. Watch your email for more information or stop at registration! The Cardinal soccer players will take the pitch August 16^th for their first practice; with games starting the week of August 23^rd. FSA hosts the annual high school scrimmages on Aug. 21^st for close to 20 high school teams for girls and boys. Mark your calendars, our annual tailgate and game in Mahoney field will be Oct. 1^st for girls and boys varsity.

 

Our concession stand is fitted with new sinks and a new cooler – check out the nightly treats Mon and Wed during rec soccer from 5:00 -8:00 pm. Thanks to Kris Seifert for keeping this running. 

 

The interior of the garage is being finished this month by a crew headed up by Pat Parsley. We should have walls, electrical and a heater by fall. We continue to work with the City on irrigation and lights for a field. Fortunately, this year Mother Nature has provided the irrigation and the fields are in their best shape ever for late summer.
